Psychological philosopher, teacher, author.
My mission is to help you change your life and write your own personal story of human development.
I've held many titles: Military Officer and Pilot, Author, Psychological Philosopher, Mentor, Leader, Teacher, and High School Principal; and I have Master's degrees in International Development and Political Theory, minoring in Psychology, Philosophy and Sociology. While I've achieved much and excelled at everything I've done, I've also suffered from low self-esteem, depression, loneliness, and anger issues.
A native of small-town Newfoundland, Canada, I imagined my adult life would be devoid of excitement... until I lost my grandfather. At 18-years-old, our loss proved life-changing for me. Something clicked in my head and heart and made me want to live a life worthy of the accolades I'd heard well-wishers share about my grandfather.
With limited prospects, one way out of my small-town life was to join the military, so I became a pilot while pursuing my bachelor's degree. However, I soon discovered that the job suited me well enough, but didn't satisfy my desire for purpose. Years of depression and going through the motions followed until I realized my purpose was to live, learn, grow, and absorb as much self-knowledge and knowledge about other people, cultures, and ways of thinking, as possible. This journey has taken me to every region of the globe in search of life-altering experiences and the common threads of humanity.
When I'm not traveling, writing, learning, and continuing my life's work, I enjoy reading, philosophizing, healthy philosophical debates, playing sports, weightlifting, yoga, and watching thought-provoking movies and television series.
My story is your story. One thing I've come to realize is that we're all mirrors. Just as I've learned a lot about myself from meeting and engaging with every kind of person this world has to offer, you'll learn much about yourself from engaging with me. Your weakness is my weakness, and my strength is your strength. My human development reveals your opportunities for growth. By shedding our armor and being honest, we allow others to see who we really are, as well as allowing them to see themselves in us.
My project is not to lecture but to engage. Not enough people are talking about thorough human development and I want to change that. Connect with me in your preferred way, and if I wasn't clear about something, let me know. If you think I'm wrong about something, I look forward to that debate. Have a question on something I didn't cover, ask away. Want stock market advice, look elsewhere. For anything human, I'd appreciate your participation.
